In an attempt to answer the question, Why did I stop talking to... X..., I will seek them out. And then I see it again, the issue, forgotten or hazy with time. "Oh, yeah, right, nevermind" is all I can say at that point. It's a common occurrence.
Well put. In my teens and twenties, friendships were largely built around beers and crude jokes and video games. Then I got into the world of family and career and had to start thinking about actual principles to live by. That’s when you see the differences in values and worldviews crystallize. Even if it doesn’t always cause a dramatic division, it tends to foster that slow drift toward dissolution.
Yeah, it's one of those realizations you make early on: not everyone you've known gets to accompany you into the future, regardless of how solid you thought that relationship was.

I’ve watched my own friend circle shrink over the years as I’ve seen some of them choose worldviews that I can’t mesh with and it’s a sad reality of life.
